Winter is here in Furudal! This year, the snow arrived at the beginning of December and often stays until the spring, around April. Throughout the winter months, our forest is covered in a thick blanket of snow, and the lakes freeze over with ice that may be several feet thick: a real winter wonderland. It’s time to make the most of the snow and enjoy the beauty of the Swedish countryside in our area.
To make that easier, we are offering some great winter activities in our village this season, so you will notice that Ore has a lot to offer during the winter.
What about a torch walk from us through the woods to our cosy bakery, Snitths Hantverksbageri, in the middle of the village? It’s a magical and exciting experience to go with a torch in the dark or at dusk. It will often be just us on the trail. When completely quiet, we will probably see deer, foxes, or other forest animals. At the bakery, we warm up in front of the fireplace and enjoy a real Swedish fika.
Or try snowshoe hiking. Put on your snowshoes and follow us into the forest. The modern, lightweight snowshoes allow you to experience beautiful places that are otherwise (during wintertime) unreachable because of deep snow. We make a nice walk through the woods and will have many opportunities to find traces of animals in the forests. Of course, we take care of a fika. You can hire snowshoes at our place if you would rather hike yourself.
Another fun winter activity in Furudal itself is cross-country skiing. You can now hire equipment as an optional extra before you arrive, so you don’t have to hire them elsewhere. When there is enough snow, there are great tracks in Furudal. They consist of 1 km, 2.5 km, 5 km, 7 km, 9 km and 12 km trails. One kilometre and five kilometres are illuminated. When the ice on the Oresjön and Skattungesjön is thick enough, our villagers also create beautiful trails on the lake. There is nothing better. We know from experience.
Have you ever gone ice fishing before? With our equipment, you can just try it out. Drill a hole through the ice and wait patiently. Be sure to bring warm fika with you, and just enjoy.
There will be more: We are organizing a horse sleigh ride from our home to our cosy bakery, Snitths Hantverksbageri, in the middle of the village, to have a fika or a soup lunch and back again.
Time over? Try sledging on our hill in the middle of the village, build a snowman or a castle and have a snowball fight. After all these activities, nothing is nicer than making a meal together and chilling. We are certain you’ll sleep very well at Näsets Marcusgård.
