We were looking for more fun activities for our guests in spring and autumn. Well, we had heard from locals that one of their favourites is fishing, and that is fantastic to fish in the area. But how do you prove to non-locals that you can fish very well here if you are not a fisherman yourself? And to make it more difficult: to non-locals who do not know the area and only stay here for a few days?
We asked three Dutch fishermen to come over and test it. Together with a local fishing guide, because he knows the best spots. And yes, the guide was part of the test. We asked Per Wilund (Per Wilund fishing in Boda) to set up a nice three-day program for the men and they started last Friday. Per took care of a boat and the men brought their own fishing gear. Per can also provide these, but if you are a real fisherman you bring your own? The weather could not be better: a clear blue sky, autumn colours reflected in the lakes and even some moose showed up to make it perfect. Sweden at its best. And the most important: they also caught quite a bit. Trout was on the menu on Friday. On Saturday they fished for pike and perch, and on Sundays, they fished on a big lake and caught mostly pike. Besides fishing, they grilled a tasty lunch over the campfire and of course, there was also time for fika.
Last night the men had dinner at our place to talk about how they had experienced it. The outcome of our fishing trip try-out? The fishing trip had been great and a typical Swedish experience thanks to the guide who knew the best spots and knew how to give these guys this feeling. Certainly to be recommended to other fishing lovers.
And we ourselves? We prefer to eat the fish others have caught. But we are delighted to be able to offer a new activity and a fine guide for it at Näsets Marcusgård in Furudal. Nothing is more de-stressing than being outdoors and cook a great meal and sleep wonderfully afterwards. Proof again: here in Ore, there is always something to do, all year round!
