Many cafes and bakeries offer vegetarian or vegan options for lunch. Eat out for lunch instead of dinner.
Cafe Nyfiket, Rättvik
Prepared in the kitchen at Gammelgården, with organic and locally grown ingredients, served directly on the courtyard’s yard where you can sit among lilac bushes, watch the swallows fly and experience the cosy feeling of several centuries-old timber walls. If the weather is rough, there is seating inside the cottages. Fika and lunch. They always have vegan, gluten-free and lactose-free options among cakes and sandwiches. The day’s lunch is always vegetarian, and getting a hypoallergenic or vegan version is usually possible. Talk to the staff, and they’ll sort it out. Apart from good food, you should also be here for unique performances: ethno music, storytelling performances about Sweden’s first non-binary folk costume and the mini-festival Lesbiskt Nyfiken. Keep an eye on their summer program!
Snitths Hantverksbageri, Furudal
Our little local and cosy bakery is within walking distance and open all year round. It serves lighter lunches, salads, vegetarian soups, and hearty sandwiches. If you ordered our meals, they probably came from cook Lotta. (It’s open from Wednesday to Sunday.)

Also, within walking/cycling distance from us, you’ll find a nice waffle and lunch summer café run by Joram and Noemie this summer.
