”After a day of work, we enjoy nature. Bathing in the forest, slowing down, connect with nature,” says Kaatje Jacob. She is moving wood from one stable to another. On the empty stable, hang signs with Ivar, Thor and Ubbe. As of today, it is the new home of alpacas: three new family members and the reason for our visit.
The Swedish Belgians
Together with her husband Tim and three children, Kaatje left Belgium for Sweden, and now they live in their picturesque farm Sandnasgård, strongly reminiscent of Petterson’s. Chickens (huge ones), kittens including a little one, some sheep and a dog. Within walking distance of Näsets Marcusgård: You pass it when you go to Sandnäsudden beach. Kaatje and Tim both have sports training and regularly pass by running or cycling. Tim also has a therapeutic background in addition. ”Nature and animals calm you down and live more in the here and now. That is also actually the main reason why we came to live here.” In addition to their work as teachers, they are consciously working towards a lifestyle of living more in the now and experiencing together, closer to nature than in Belgium. As a new addition to this, three alpacas have now been added. ”We consciously choose useful animals that fit into our nature,” Kaatje explains. Tim: ”Alpacas have their own pace. You have to adapt to their quiet way of ”being”. You have to get used to it for a while, but it’s so nice that it comes naturally, making you completely unwind and enjoy the environment in a completely different way.” We like to share our knowledge gained,” adds Kaatje. ”Of course, in balance with their daily work. Because of all the stress and having to, we are just escaping,” she laughs. ”Our philosophy of life supplemented by Tim’s background as a therapist gives opportunities for this.”
The Boys Are Ready! Are You Ready For An Alpaca Adventure?
From the end of October, the alpacas will be ready for alpaca adventures accompanied by the couple. Kaatje or Tim will provide a meet-and-greet with the alpacas, a scavenger hunt, a beautiful walk through the forest, and a fika afterwards. As with us, a different way to experience nature and unwind. Of course, there is also plenty of time to take photos. Indeed, like our Supermåne and Oddis Öga, these guys (they are three males) ALWAYS look handsome in photos. ”You will be surprised how calm it makes you feel and how nice the contact with the alpacas is,” says Kaatje enthusiastically. ”And here in the beautiful surroundings, it’s cool”.
