We recently rented out mountain bikes (MTB’s), which we are very proud of. But only renting out them is, of course, not our intention. We also want to be able to share our tips about the nicest and most beautiful routes when you rent our MTB’s. So, we have already spent a few evenings exploring the MTB. The nice thing is that you travel miles in no time, sometimes on forest paths, gravel roads, up and down the hills (for the Dutch who are only used to flatness, this is hard work), you can discover new spots where you usually never go. And again and again, we are surprised that it is so beautiful here!
Today, we made a try-out trip for the Cykelturistveckan 2018 (5 – 10 August 2018). Every year, the Swedish National Cycling Federation (Cykelfrämjandet), in cooperation with the municipality and several local companies, organizes a cycling tour week. This year, it is Rättvik’s turn, and we are co-organisers. During five days, several cycling routes are offered within the municipality, each having its own short (25-30km), medium (35-50km) and long routes (50+ km). Every day, another place in the municipality and its sights are highlighted. August 9th, this takes place in our region, Ore, so it is in our interest that we make something great out of it. Together with Katrin from Eriksdotters Brukslogi, we cycled 35 km around Oresjön and visited all the places that will soon be placed on the cycling map. Nice places, enough to stop. We chose Norrboda’s Gammelstan for a pause, and Katrin treated us to a delicious fika (our first rhubarb pie of the year!).
On our bike, we discovered so many little but surprising places: “beautiful Ulla”, an ancient tree, beaches with special views, old Swedish houses and barns, retired fjäll (mountain) cows, Lukaskällan (it is said to be healing water when you drink it when it’s full moon), a place full of rare Mosippa flowers (Lady of the snows) and green hills full of flowers. We cannot imagine that the participants would not like that. There will be something to eat and drink in several places on the way. We, as Näsets Marcusgård, will also participate.
Even if you do not participate on that day, you can make these kinds of bike tours all summer. To make it easier to overcome slopes, get off the beaten track, discover new places and take a longer trip, we strongly recommend our mountain bikes! But you can also rent a normal bike at Katrin (Eriksdotters Brukslogi) in Furudal.
Happy biking!
