Old-growth forest left alone for hundreds of years, with so many rocks that forest machines could not enter, remnants of fires of ages ago, animal tracks of wolverines, bears and lo, trees chopped by hand two centuries ago, swamps, dams, planted trees and a hill with “harvested forest”, which created stunning views.

The path from Lannabergsvägen Norr via Amsterdamm to the deserted village of Ejheden is an outright journey through time and automatically introduces you to different kinds of forestry. Yesterday Olle Vixner Hubinette from Siljan fishing took us to get an impression of the path.

The path has been neglected for years, but after discovering an article from 1918 for the Swedish Tourist Association in which tourists describe their journey to Ejheden to fish, Guidefathers enthusiastically set about to rediscover the path and make the path passable. The old path was marked on a map of 1973, and they found it in a hunter’s house, but it was still quite a job to find the way and make it accessible.

Together with Olle and Lotta Backlund from Green Owl Travel, we tested the route for hikers and took the opportunity to inspire and brainstorm with each other along the way. Olle is one of the managers of Guidefathers, which takes care of Ejheden on behalf of Sveaskog and makes unique fishing experiences possible. Lotta knows the most beautiful places in Dalarna and knows how to put together and organise the best trips and activities. Philosophizing, pioneering, and strengthening cooperation are things we all have more time for now, and they help us all become stronger out of these strange times. New and inspiring ideas for you to experience and dream about. To all our guests who need positive energy after all that’s happening.
Furudal is calling! Dream, think slow and enjoy!
