Onsdagen den 12 augusti 2026 får vi se en betydande solförmörkelse på kvällen. Eftersom solen då står lågt över trädkanten förvandlas ljuset i skogen till ett sällsamt, silveraktigt sken som man bara får uppleva en gång i livet. Så snart solen har gått ner tar meteorregnet Perseiderna över. 2026 är ett speciellt år eftersom det är nymåne under peaken, vilket innebär en becksvart himmel – de absolut bästa förutsättningarna för vår signaturupplevelse Stars above the Forest.

If you are planning to visit us in 2026, try to aim for the second week of August. We are looking at a rare ”double bill” in the sky that summer, and the forest here in Furudal is exactly where you want to be when it happens.
On August 12th, we get a significant solar eclipse in the evening. Because the sun will be low over the trees, the light in the forest will turn into that strange, silvery glow that you only see once in a lifetime. And as soon as the sun sets, the Perseid meteor shower takes over.
2026 is a special year because it’s a New Moon during the peak. This means the sky will be pitch black—the perfect canvas for our signature Stars above the Forest experience. Of course, this all depends on the Swedish summer weather playing along—but even with a few clouds, the change in light is something you’ll feel.
Our ”Quiet Horizon” picnic
While you can see the stars from your cabin, the eclipse requires a bit more height. We’ve scouted a ”secret” spot nearby—an elevated clearing with a wide view of the horizon that we only share with our guests.
To make the evening complete, we’re preparing Stargazer Baskets for that week. We’ll pack them with local treats, something cold to drink, and essential solar eclipse glasses so you can watch the moon’s progress safely. We’ll kaalso give you our ”insider map” to the best vantage point to escape any crowds.

Early August is when the deep dark nights return to Dalarna, but it’s still warm enough to sit outside with a blanket. It’s that short window where you get the best of both worlds: the comfort of summer and the raw beauty of the Milky Way.
