Signature Experiences of the Forest
Simple, sensory moments shaped by the rhythm of nature
Näsets Marcusgård is a Scandinavian-inspired slow nature and forest retreat in Dalarna, Sweden, where peaceful cabin stays are woven together with Signature Experiences of the Forest: simple, self-guided nature experiences that invite you to slow down, breathe deeply and reconnect with the forest. Each experience is shaped by season, light and weather, unfolding in the rhythm of this place.
Forest bathing
Forest bathing, on nature’s own terms
Today, forest bathing — also known as Shinrin Yoku — is often described as a way to slow down, reduce stress and reconnect with nature. In many ways, our Signature Experiences of the Forest are just that, but in a freer and more organic form. Instead of scheduled sessions or structured guided walks, we let the deep forest of Furudal be your guide. What emerges is a simple, unforced path to rest and restoration: arriving in the present at your own pace, breathing in the scent of pine and moss, and experiencing the calming power of the Scandinavian forest as it truly is.
In the rhythm of the forest, your nature retreat in Dalarna
Our Signature Experiences of the Forest are simple, sensory invitations — created to help you feel, listen, breathe and simply be in the rhythm of the forest. Näsets Marcusgård in Furudal is a place where the stay itself is closely interwoven with seasonal nature experiences.
The landscape shapes every moment; the light and the time of year determine its mood. On arrival, each guest receives a small guide and map, inviting you to discover the forest at your own pace. Most experiences are self-guided and last between 10 and 45 minutes, depending on the season and your rhythm. We remain quietly in the background: preparing, guiding and helping whenever needed.
Here, experiences are not tightly scheduled. They emerge from shifting light, living stillness and a forest that is never quite the same twice. They are not activities, but invitations to presence — shaped by season, weather and place.

Discover Each Experience

At dawn, walk barefoot through dew-covered grass — a quiet midsummer ritual of renewal.
Born from the first light of our Nordic summers — when every morning smells and sounds a little different. At dawn, you walk barefoot through the dew. An old midsummer ritual, once for luck and love, now a moment of silence and reconnection. Here, the day begins slowly — with cool earth beneath your feet and the soft breath of the forest around you.

Listen to wind, birds and trees — or to music composed from them. Between the two, a living silence emerges.
Born from the idea of the forest as a composer. Sit and listen to the natural sounds of wind, birds and trees — or through headphones to a composition created entirely from them. Between the two, something new emerges: living silence.

Where story, imagination and silence meet — the forest becomes the screen itself.

The Gift of Silence
Silence is never complete here. The forest breathes, cracks and whispers — yet in the pauses between, something rare appears: space to listen, to the world, or to yourself.
This quiet presence runs through every part of Näsets Marcusgård, woven into the forest, the stay, and every Signature Experience of the Forest. These are not activities, but invitations to presence — simple moments, deeply rooted in the land.
The story behind the experiences
The Signature Forest Experiences were not created at a desk, but grew naturally out of life here: a decade of living on this land, among trees, guests, silence and stars.
They were born from our own moments of wonder:
- the scent of resin on warm days,
- the sound of falling snow,
- the soft spring of the forest floor,
- and the way the woods always reveal something new if you truly look.
And from what our guests keep telling us:
- “The ground breathes here.”
- “The forest smells different after rain.”
- “The sky — so many stars.”
Over time, we realised that this place doesn’t ask for more peace; it asks for more presence. The nature here awakens every sense: it invites you to listen, to smell, to feel, to see, to taste, to notice how alive everything is, and that you are part of it.
Let the forest meet you, exactly as you are.
What you may want to know
Do I need to book the Signature Experiences of the Forest?
No. All experiences are self-guided invitations woven into the landscape. You can explore them whenever you feel ready.
Are all experiences always available?
Not always. They follow the season, the weather and the forest’s own rhythm. Some may be resting, others more alive at certain times of day or year.
How long do the experiences take?
Most moments last between 10 and 45 minutes, depending on your pace, the season and how long you choose to stay with them.
Is the Wilderness Sauna included?
Yes — the sauna ritual is fully included for all Full Immersion Stays in Supermåne and Oddis Öga.
Guests staying in Hölada or Fähus can access the sauna through the optional Premium Experience Add-On. This includes one self-heated sauna session per day (with firewood provided), as part of the curated forest rituals. Additional sessions may be possible depending on availability and firewood capacity.
What should I wear?
Comfortable, weather-friendly clothing. Boots in spring and autumn, layers in winter, something loose and easy for Morning Dew.
What happens if it rains or snows?
The forest simply becomes different. Many experiences transform beautifully in rain, fog or snowfall — silence deepens, scents rise, sounds shift. Only in severe conditions may a moment be taken to rest.
Can I visit the experiences without staying overnight?
Not at this time. The Signature Experiences of the Forest are an intimate part of the stay and the land.
Are the experiences suitable for children?
Yes, though some moments are quieter than others. The forest often becomes their guide. Parents accompany their children at all times.
Is the Forest Feast included in the forest retreat?
No. Forest Feast is a separate, bookable food experience available to all guests.
