What has the start of new school year, the kitchen garden and our favorite noodle-dish to do with each other? Well, the end of the summer: more time to spend in the garden, time to harvest and put it all in delicious meals.
And the dish we are the most happy with, is our Chinese noodle dish (You can find the recipe under recipes to share)! For me as a ‘kitchen garden beginner’ it was real fun to find out that Asian vegetables needed, are willing to grow in a Nordic country like Sweden: pak choi, Chinese salad, chili pepper, spring union.
Our love for this special dish comes from our trip through China, already 12 years ago. What a wonderful food experiences we had! We can’t make the dishes exactly like in China, but our recipe tastes a bit like it. Writing about China makes me think of our Chinese visitors last week, now you know why we are even more enthusiastic when you are Chinese or bring Chinese family along when you visit us. You remind us of our travels abroad. Next time we must not forget to ask to leave your favorite Chinese recipe.
But it’s not only Asian vegetables that grew (and still grow) well in our garden. One big success are the different types of salad. They grew so enthusiastically, that we have to ask our guests to pick salad from the bigger kitchen garden too. How nice to have your own salad bar though. And the kitchen herbs and green salad we wanted to share with our guests? The dill, parsley, lemon balm, basil, chive and rosemary? They explode as well and the herbs are flowering! Most guests like the idea, although not everyone knows they can pick such things here before they arrive. But we can conclude at the end of the summer: It was a successful try-out, which we will continue next year.
We almost forgot: we would like to thank al our guests for staying at Näsets Marcusgård. Sometimes it felt like we were on a holiday-trip. A big thank you is on it place!
