In September, we hosted a family from Spain with children eager for an adventurous day trip to explore wild Sweden in a day. Unfortunately, many attractions were closed for the seasonâa common challenge after summer. Luckily, Mireille and Willem, the proud owners of NĂ€sets MarcusgĂ„rd, are always ready to help their guests find unique alternatives. Here’s how they crafted the perfect plan:
Guest: Good morning! We’re looking for suggestions for a day trip. We hoped to visit the Orsa Bear Park, but we heard it’s closed.
Mireille: Good morning! Unfortunately, Orsa Bear Park is no longer open. But don’t worryâwe’ve got a fantastic alternative! Have you considered visiting Vildriket i JĂ€rvsjö?
Guest: Vildriket? We haven’t heard of that. What is it?
Mireille: It’s a superb wildlife park where you can see native Swedish animals like lynxes, wolves, and moose in their natural habitat. It’s perfect for families and nature enthusiasts, and to explore Wild Sweden in a day. Vildriket monitors biodiversity globally so that you can stay updated on what’s happening in Sweden and the World.

Guest: That sounds interesting! How far is it from here?
Willem: It’s about 110 kilometres by car (a 1.5-hour drive) from NĂ€sets MarcusgĂ„rd in Furudal. And the journey is beautiful, with stunning HĂ€lsingerland forests and countryside.
Mireille: And talking about wildlife, Just a week ago, a bear crossed the road between Furudal and Edsbyn (road 301) right in front of a friend’s car who had set out again from us to another place. You certainly can meet a wild animal while on your way there.

Willem: You’ll pass by some traditional UNESCO World Heritage Sites farmhouses.
Guest: UNESCO World Heritage Sites? That’s amazing! We’d love to see those.

Mireille: Absolutely! They’re great for a quick photo stop. Once you arrive at Vildriket, you’ll have the chance to immerse yourself in the fascinating world of Swedish wildlife. The park takes an ethical approach to animal care and offers informative displays and guided experiences.
Guest: That sounds wonderful! What about lunch? Are there places to eat near the park?
Mireille: Yes, the JÀrvsjö village has charming cafes and restaurants. For delicious coffee, we highly recommend RÀvgrytes Kafferosteri in JÀrvsjö.
Willem: If you still have time in the afternoon, you could visit the Looskobolt Gruva, a historic cobalt mine. They offer engaging guided tours that delve into the region’s mining history.

Guest: Wow, this all sounds fantastic! Thank you so much for the suggestion. We’ll consider this for our day trip and explore Wild Sweden in a Day.
Mireille: You’re very welcome! We’re here to help you make the most of your stay. Just let us know if you have any other questions.
Guest: We will. Thanks again!
