The end-of-school celebration, a big thing in Sweden. Our boys just had theirs here in Ore Kyrka (church). Let the summer begin!
The ingredients are: teachers in Ore-costumes (from the area), nicely dressed pupils, Astrid Lindgrens “Little Ida’s Summer Song”, and every class sings a song. At the end the pupils of the ninth class (final) get their diploma. After saying goodbye to the teachers it’s time to go home and eat strawberrycake (well, that’s what we did). It’s a celebrating of an end but also the beginning of a very active season.
One example of that in Furudal is our “Best on ice” icehockeys summerschool that starts today. Until August 13th our little village is filled with boys and girls who attend a special icehockey-trainingcamp. You can recognize them by a yellow vest. These young icehockey-athletes come from the whole of Sweden and they are very fanatic.
They are brought here by their parents who often drive for hours to get here. For those parents we have a message: of course it’s great fun to see your children enjoy themselves and to watch them growing in their favorite sport. But it’s nice to think about yourself a little bit. An easy way to do that is staying in one of our a comfortable houses during the night and moments that you want to relax and enjoy yourself while you’re kids are busy. You too deserve a nice holiday.
