Spring! After months of stagnation nature suddenly explodes. The light increases too, so everything grows like crazy. Willem already enjoyed his first lawn mowing activity. We have set up the greenhouse too and made our kitchen garden bigger. Indoors, I have sown vegetables a while ago: it was finally time to move them to the greenhouse. Last year I tried some tomatoes, cucumber and zucchini. This year I’ll add chili pepper and bell pepper in the greenhouse. Outside I have sown red beet, beans, man-gold, green salad, carrots, leafy goosefoot (some sort of berry), zucchini and strawberries to start with. It takes a while to figure out what grows well here in this climate. We replanted the rhubarb plants. I can’t wait to make some pie with it. And pumpkins! I never succeeded in growing them in Holland and I hope it will here: for Halloween.
This year I also planted lots of kitchen herbs and green salad to share with our guests. The Swedish favorite dill of course, parsley, lemon balm, basil, chive and rosemary. Nothing better then cooking with fresh herbs isn’t it? Feel free to try our herbs and salad!
